The Brookline Fire Protection District ("the District") is a public governmental entity located in Missouri. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle information on our website.

Information We Collect

This website does not include forms that collect personal information directly. However, the following types of information may be processed when you use this site:

Information You Provide

If you contact the District by email or phone using contact details listed on this website, you are voluntarily providing your contact information to us. That information is used only to respond to your inquiry.

Information Collected Automatically

Like most websites, this site keeps a server log of the requests it receives. For each request, the following is recorded automatically:

  • The IP address the request came from
  • The date and time of the request
  • The page or file requested, and whether it was delivered successfully
  • The browser and operating system reported by your device
  • The page that referred you, if you arrived by following a link

These logs are used only to keep the site working, to understand which information residents are looking for, and to identify technical problems or abuse. They are not used to build a profile of you, and they are not combined with any other information about you.

Logs are automatically and permanently deleted after 90 days. Access to them is restricted to District administrators.

Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com). When your browser requests these fonts, Google may collect your IP address and browser information in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy (opens in new tab). The District does not control Google's data practices.

We do not use cookies, tracking pixels, third-party analytics services, advertising, or any form of cross-site tracking on this website.

The Facebook Feed on Our Home Page

Our home page shows recent posts from our Facebook page as plain text. That text is collected by the District in advance and served from our own website, so reading it sends nothing to Facebook.

Beside it, the home page also displays our live Facebook feed, with photographs. That feed comes from Facebook and loads as part of the page, without any action on your part. When it loads, your browser connects directly to Facebook, and Facebook may receive your IP address, information about your device, and the fact that you visited this page. This happens whether or not you have a Facebook account, and what Facebook does with that information is governed by Meta's Privacy Policy (opens in new tab) rather than this one. The District does not control it and does not receive any of it.

The District chose to display the feed openly so that every resident can see District news and photographs without an extra step. The feed is requested only if you scroll far enough down the home page to reach it; if you do not, your browser never contacts Facebook. No other page on this website contains Facebook content.

If you would rather not load it at all, the same District news is published as plain text on this website, and most browsers offer a setting to block third-party content.

How We Use Information

Any information you voluntarily provide to the District (such as via email) is used solely to respond to your request and to carry out the District's public safety mission. We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except as required by Missouri public records law.

Missouri Sunshine Law

As a Missouri governmental entity, the District is subject to the Missouri Sunshine Law (RSMo Chapter 610). Communications sent to the District may be considered public records and subject to disclosure upon request, unless a specific statutory exemption applies.

Children's Privacy

This website is not directed at children under the age of 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
